A thoughtful young lady from Colwyn Bay recently took part in the 2.6 challenge in aid of Ty Gobaith Children's Hospice.

With the restrictions in place due to the Lockdown, 7 year old Emma Lidgett of Colwyn Heights, decided to set herself a challenge of riding her bike at least 26 laps around her garden, every day for 7 days.

The organisers of the country’s biggest mass-participation event, the 2020 London Marathon came together and organised the 2.6 Challenge campaign in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, which has had a devastating effect on charities and the loss of millions in fundraising income.

It was launched on the 26th of April and the 2.6 fundraising challenge should include numbers 2.6 or 26.

Emma's confidence for riding her pedal bike grew over the week and instead of totalling 182 laps, she completed 380. The equivalent of 14.6km or 9 miles. The year 2, Ysgol Pen y Bryn pupil wanted to raise money for local poorly children.

Thanks to the generosity of friends and family, her online donations totalled over £200 for Ty Gobaith, a local children's hospice based in the Conwy Valley, who are there for children who are not expected to live longer than early adulthood.

Emma said: "When I heard I had raised over £200 it made me feel like dancing. I was so happy. Everybody giving money to the poorly children charity is so kind. I enjoyed it, it stopped me from being bored. The worse part was falling off!"
