Thousands of people are expected to attend the funeral of rock legend and Alarm front man Mike Peters in Dyserth this afternoon.

The service will be held at the Parish Church of St Bridget at 3pm, with an open invitation for all to join.

Road closures and parking restrictions will be in place around the village until 6pm this evening.

Mike's wife Jules and his two sons have extended the invitation for fans to join the family in paying their respects.

Peters, a long-standing cancer campaigner, had battled blood cancer for 30 years. In 2019, he was awarded the MBE for his contributions to cancer care.

The Alarm sold millions of records in the UK and in their home town of Rhyl, and became the first Welsh musicians to crack America since Tom Jones and Bonnie Tyler.

He was born in Prestatyn and lived in Dyserth with his wife Jules and their sons Dylan, 20 and Evan, 18.
