Three months of work on Junction flyover starts today

Work is beginning today on major refurbishment work to the flyover link from Llandudno Junction to Conwy.

The work to replace the waterproofing, movement joints and drainage on the bridge will be done across a number of phases, with the second phase beginning on April 17th.

One lane will remain open on the flyover but one way access is in place on Ffordd 5G which links the Llandudno Junction roudabout with the A55. Traffic will still be able to access Deganwy, Llandudno Junction and the Tesco roundabout, but not from all directions.

Diversions are sign posted and impact is expected on the local buses between Conwy and the Junction.

Pedestrians and cyclists will still be able to access the bridge via the steps near Lidl at the Llandudno Junction end of the site.

A Council spokesperson said: “We understand that this work will cause major disruption and inconvenience for residents, because the bridge is a main route into Conwy. But it’s because this is a key route that the work is so important, to keep the bridge safe and open for years to come.

"Dry weather is needed to complete the work, which is why it’s scheduled for spring and summer.

"We’re avoiding the main school holidays by starting after Easter and completing the first phase before the summer holidays.”

The bridge was last closed for major work in 1995.
