Town Clerk criticises Conwy Council for recycling fiasco

An infuriated Town Clerk in Llanrwst has written to Conwy Council accusing them of poor communication as an important local service was scrapped without consultation.

Ross Morgan wrote back to the authority after he was told that the recycling bins outside the Cooperative are to be removed this week after the service was withdrawn.

Ross said that following the email he went searching for notices to members of the public informing them of the withdrawal but explained that they were difficult to find.

In the letter to contacts at Conwy Council he wrote:

"As Town Clerk here at Llanrwst, I m not impressed with the way this matter has been taken forward. There has been no consultation and the advance notice is insufficient.

"On receiving your e-mail, I visited the recycling bank at the Coop and had to wander around the bins looking for your notice – there is a separate one on Crest’s bin but I would hardly call them visible unless you go looking for them.

"This is a significant change in service provision which warrants a newspaper announcement or similar.

"From my daily observation, the banks here in Llanrwst are regularly used. There may have been a significant decrease across the County of Conwy, but do you have figures for each location?

"I shall put the information out on the Council’s Facebook page but local people might not be too happy."

Bayside Radio has asked Conwy Council for a response.
