A beatiful rendition of a world-famous song supporting the efforts of local NHS staff has has recognition from it's writer.

Singer songwriter Paul Simon, who penned the song 'Bridge of Troubled Water' along with his musical partner Art Gurfunkel, said that the performance which was staged to mark the constructing of Ty'r Enfys in Llandudno was 'extraordinary' and descibed the efforts of all those working on the projects as 'remarkable'.

Simon said the naming of the hospital on the site of Venue Cymru was 'a symbol of hope'.

The video which is already going viral with 80,000 views so far was filmed with medics, construction workers and local NHS staff as final preparations were underway ahead of Ty'r Enfys opening up to look after local people recovering from hospital treatment following COVID-19.

The video features messages from broadcaster and performer Jools Holland, and Welsh acting stars Mathew Rhys and Rhys Ifans. The council's staff choir also got involved in the song which is available to see on YouTube and Facebook.
