A Cessna light aircraft crashed into the sea just off Puffin Island on Monday afternoon.
The Coastguard and lifeboats from Anglesey, Llandudno and Rhyl were to in attendance following the incident reported just before 1pm.
The search was called off on Monday night and is expected to commence again first light on Tuesday.
North Wales Police and Coastguards say that one person, the pilot was the sole occupant on the light aircraft and their family is being kept informed on developments.
