Venue Cymru has today written an open message to local residents, theatre patrons and members of the entertainment industry sadly announcing that their pantomime Aladdin has been cancelled for this year.
In a message which thanked everyone for their patience and support, the theatre explained the reason why the show wasn't possible this year.
"As our patrons already know, Venue Cymru along with all arts organisations across the country closed its doors for live events and conferences in March 2020.
"Amid the pandemic Venue Cymru has been ulitised by the local health board as a temporary field hospital, and it is important that the provision of Venue Cymru 'Ysbty Enfys' remains with the Betsi Cadwaladr Health Board into 2022, in case of a surge in Covid cases.
"This does mean the postponement of many shows and events, including our pantomime, Aladdin. All pantomime bookings will be automatically be transferred to a corresponding date in 2021.
"Further advice, production and casting information will be available in due course, and as soon as we have this we'll be contacting customers again. We kindly ask patrons to await direct updates from us regarding their booking before contacting the Box Office.
"We know a Christmas without Panto won't be the same, but stay safe, and we'll be back when we can. We want to take every opportunity to thank you again for your support and patience during this time."
The Pantomime which was to be produced by Qdos Pantomimes was going to be their last for the theatre after producing the show for many years and the much anticipated return of long-serving, favourite funny man John Evans as Aladdin's hapless, hilarious brother, Wishee Washee.
