Economic Development staff at Conwy County Borough Council are evaluating the impact of investment on Colwyn Bay businesses.
The redevelopment of the waterfront, which was part supported by European funding, includes new concession buildings designed to offer services and activities for local residents and visitors to the area.
Bethan Wynne-Jones, Property Investment Officer said, “The impact of this work on Colwyn Bay’s Waterfront cannot be underestimated, and the very real success of our tenants in the area highlights this perfectly.”
Cllr Louise Emery, Conwy’s Cabinet Member for Economic Development said, “The regeneration of Colwyn Bay will be measured by the successes of our local businesses. Colwyn Bay has a strong tradition of niche retailers; specialists that are a destination in themselves for customers. And I’m delighted that new businesses on the Waterfront are part of this scene.”
Cllr Emery congratulated Bryn Williams at Porth Eirias on their recent award. She said, “It’s testament to our tenants’ hard work in making their Colwyn Bay business a success, and we’re delighted that their hard work has seen the bistro awarded the BRA Best Restaurant in Wales award.”

Even very new businesses are feeling the benefits. This summer, the brand new Waterfront concession was officially handed over to Tracy and Mark Mansfield. Named ‘Horizon Shine’ the kiosk is already busy and receiving positive feedback, Tracy said, “We can’t believe the support we are already getting from local people and visitors alike.”
