Welsh Mountain Zoo 'faces the worst crisis in its history'

April 26, 2020 - 2517 views

Colwyn Bay's Welsh Mountain Zoo is the pride of our community and attracts many thousands of visitors to our area each year.

The zoo which is run by the charity the National Zoological of Wales is one of the groups under threat as the lockdown continues and income sources run dry as visitors have to stay away. The Zoo say this is the worst crisis it has ever seen in its 57 year history.

"Whilst the gates are closed, our dedicated and hard-working team are continuing to provide the best care for our amazing animals, as they always do.

"However, with 140 species to care for and reduced running costs still in excess of £118,000 per month, the National Zoological Society of Wales, our Charity, really does need your support. No visitors to the Zoo means no income for the Charity.

"If you can, please help us to secure the future of the Zoo by making a donation. Whether you give a little or give a lot, the support you provide will help us to continue the care for our animals and throw our gates back open at the end of this crisis.

At the time this article was written the amount raised was just short of £4,000. If you would like to help the Zoo in their hour of need please visit their donations page here.
