It is has been reported that one of Colwyn Bay's longest serving shops is set to close its doors this summer.

WH Smith, which announced a series of cost cutting measures and a bid to secure an additional £120m of funding following the start of the pandemic, will cease trading in Colwyn Bay after over a century in business.

Many fans of the shop have been recalling memories of the shop on Good Morning Colwyn Bay over the past few days and recalling the days of browsing upstairs in the record department and the great service it has provided to the community.

The company made an announcement towards the end of last year highlighting the need to reduce the number of shops, cut costs and ensure that all the existing stores remained viable. However, this was not to be the case for the branch on Station Road in the town. It is expected to close at the start of August.

There are concerns that the exodus of another well known high street name is bad news for the town centre and the other traders who rely on traffic from the big shops to keep them afloat.
