Win or bust final Cymru Premier game for the Seagulls

Manager Evans is asking Seagulls fans to play their part in Sunday’s final win-or-bust game of the season at home to Barry Town Town United.

The Bay must win, and hope that Aberyswyth Town fail to win their final game against Pontypridd, to retain their place in the Cymru Premier League next season.

Pontypridd are already down after hearing this week that their appeal against failing to get a Tier 1 licence for the 2024/25 campaign was unsuccessful. How motivated they will be to put in a strong performance at Aberystwyth is anyone’s guess, but all the Seagulls can do is win their game and hope the other result goes in their favour.

Evo commented this week: “We’re disappointed we couldn’t get the three points last week against Haverfordwest, as it would have put things in our own hands. It isn’t in our hands, so all we can do is go out and win the game on Sunday against Barry, then what will be will be.

“We know what we have to do and we will be giving everything we have to get the three points to give us a chance to survive.

“We need all the Seagulls in full voice to get behind us and drive us on.”

Skipper Tom McCready’s late goal at Haverfordwest last weekend was his 49th for the Bay in 166 appearances and could yet prove crucial in keeping Bay up on goal difference. It would be a fitting finale to his campaign if his 50th goal gave the side the win they need on Sunday to stay in the top flight.
