Work is starting this week on the installation of new shelters along the section of promenade in front of the Cayley Embankment, Rhos-on-Sea.

The latest development for the newly revamped promenade will see the construction of 'vandal proof' shelters to keep pedestrians and visitors dry over the long stretch of pedestrian pathways during wet weather.

The shelters include new features such as solar power lighting and are designed to be accessible for wheelchair and mobility scooter users.

They also have an open design which the council say will provide shelter but will help prevent anti-social activities and vandalism from occurring.

A spokesperson said: "The new shelters will provide respite from the weather but with open sides, this will stop the same problems which blighted the older shelters from happening again."
