A call has gone out to budding young politicians to get involved in the second Welsh Youth Parliament elections.
Clwyd West MS Darren Millar is urging 11 to 18 year olds in Conwy and Denbighshire to register, take part and have a voice in local, national and international issues affecting Wales.
The Welsh Youth Parliament is made up of 60 Members (WYPM) aged 11-18 from across Wales who represent the voices of young people.
The 2021 election will be held between 1-22 November 2021 where young people from all across Wales, between 11-18 can go online and vote for who they want to represent their local area for the next 2 years.
Nearly 300 candidates have registered with every single constituency in Wales facing a battle for the seat. Voting is done electronically with each registered voter emailed a unique code to verify their ballot.
As with the first ever Welsh Youth Parliament in 2018-20, there will be 40 constituency seats decided by the votes of young people, in addition to 20 more Members who will be selected by partner organisations to ensure the representation of diverse groups of young people.
Voters can find out who is standing in their constituency and what they think are important issues to young people across Wales by visiting: https://youthparliament.senedd.wales/candidates/
Mr. Millar said:“With everything going on in the world, youth voices need to be heard now more than ever and the Welsh Youth Parliament is an excellent way for that to happen.
“The first Welsh Youth Parliament was a huge success and this process now plays a key part in our democracy.
“I therefore encourage young people across Clwyd West to take advantage of this fantastic opportunity and register and vote in this important election.”
The results of the election will be announced on 1 December with the new members meeting for the first time in the New Year.
To register to vote, visit www.youthparliament.wales before the deadline of 12 November.
