Conwy Youth Service is proud to be named as one of the 20 partners in Wales for the third Welsh Youth Parliament.

The final list of 20 partner organisations was announced last week ahead of the Welsh Youth Parliament’s third term.

As a named partner organisation, Conwy Youth Service will now run an election to choose a 11-17 year old to represent the views of young people over the next two year term.

Cllr Julie Fallon, Cabinet Member for Education, said:” We’re delighted that Conwy Youth Service has been named a partner organisation, ensuring the voices of many young people from across Conwy are heard and are represented in the work of the Welsh Youth Parliament on a national platform.

“It is important that young people’s right to take part in decisions that affect them are being fulfilled, ensuring politicians realise the importance of young people’s voices and how these voices can help us shape a better future.”

Applications to become a partner organisation were scored based on a number of factors and chosen to represent a range of causes and geographical areas.

Welsh Youth Parliament Members are elected to make sure young people’s voices are heard in decisions that affect their future.

The partner organisation system has been in place since its inception – helping to ensure a diverse parliament with representation from people from vulnerable or marginalised backgrounds.

This term’s partner organisations include those that work with homeless young people, children with disabilities and LGBTQ+ youth.
