Choral Evensong: Canon Quentin 2 Aug

July 30, 2020 - 484 views

Today is the Eighth Sunday after Trinity and once more our local Vicar, Canon Quentin Bellamy invites you to join him for a Service of Choral Evensong.

Our service this week comes from remote recordings that took place during lockdown, with each singer recording in their own homes.

The organ accompaniments to the canticles and anthem are played by John Hosking on a digital home organ. The Psalm is 108. The canticles and the anthem “Teach me O Lord the way of thy statutes” are by William Byrd, who, with his best friend Thomas Tallis, had the sole patent to music publishing during his lifetime, and was hence a very influential figure of his day.

The hymn this evening is "O worship the King” and the organ voluntary is a Postlude on the tune Hanover, composed by Alec Rowley and played for us by John Hosking.

We thank those who helped in the making of this Service: Olivia Hunt (soprano) Matthew Reeve (countertenor) Stephen Power (countertenor) Harri Graham (tenor) Richard Adamson (bass) Rev'd Barry Fenton (cantor) John Hosking (organist)

We also thank Graham Eccles for his kind assistance. Here’s Choral Evensong for the Eighth Sunday after Trinity.
