the Dementia Friendly walk held on Sunday 21 September 2025 to mark World Alzheimer's Day Abergele is part of the wider North Wales Dementia Friendly Communities Scheme, launched in January 2024. This is run by the North Wales Regional Partnership Board together with local authorities, voluntary services, health boards, and local organisations. Its aim is to make communities more inclusive and supportive for people with dementia, their families, and carers. The idea is to raise awareness, provide support, reduce stigma, and improve accessibility to services. This includes training for businesses, improving signage, and creating social opportunities and local services. Locally, various events are held (for example recognition events, resources distribution, support groups) under the “Dementia Friendly Abergele” banner.
