Wet and windy start to half term as Storm Franklin blows in

Storm Franklin is today creating wet and windy conditions across the North Wales coast.

Following a weather warning which remains in place until midday on Monday, many roads are passable with care but much surface water is creating problems for motorists.

The Britannia Bridge on the A55 is currently closed to high sided vehicles and there are many reports of fallen trees across the area.

Llandudno's Coastguard is urging anyone heading to the coast today at the start of the school half term holidays to be extra careful.

"Coastal areas are expected to remain windy,  so stay home and indoors if you can, only venturing to the coast if you really have to.

"If you do have to be out on the coast, stay well back from choppy seas and avoid exposed areas. It’s better to be safe than sorry.

"If you do see anyone in difficulty, phone 999 and ask for the coastguard."

Winds are set to continue into Monday afternoon with gales and sunny spells expected and highs of up to 11 degrees celcius.
