COVID-19: North Wales hospitals make protective mask plea

July 25, 2020 - 1777 views

Betsi Cadwaladr Health Board has appealled to all hospital visitors, patients and staff members to wear masks after Coronavirus cases in North East of Wales spiked over the past 7 days.

Cases of COVID-19 have seen an increase particularly in the Wrexham and Flintshire local authority areas and as a precaution the health board is 'actively encouraging' anyone visiting any of their sites wear a protective mask.

This includes all North Wales hospitals - Ysbyty Glan Clwyd, Ysbyty Gwynedd and the Wrexham Maelor.

In addition, visitors are being requested to avoid visiting Wrexham Maelor unless "neccessary".

The request extends to other premises run by the health board including community health centres and doctors surgeries.

Wrexham now has the country's second highest infection rate behind Merthyr Tydfil and has reported 45 positive cases of Coronavirus in the past week.
