Friends, Tracey Mercer and Tina Keating from Llandudno have signed up for a Wing Walk next summer and will take to the skies to raise funds for St David’s Hospice.
In memory of their beloved friend Joanna Entwisle, the sponsored challenge will see the pair fly on the top wing of a biplane. They will be pushing their courage to new limits as they amaze their friends and family by putting their very own in-flight show on the wing!
The fundraising event is in aid of St David’s Hospice, a local charity providing free, high quality hospice care to adult patients across Conwy, Gwynedd and Anglesey.
Tracey and Tina have pledged to raise £5000 for the adult hospice.
Tracey said: “St David’s Hospice has helped so many people we know and we want to give a little help back.
“Joanna was so looked after in the Hospice’s care and nothing was too much trouble. She had one wish, to watch her kids play with all her family around her.
“The Hospice helped so much to give Jo her wish, they even had a member of staff go out with her and her family that day to administer pain relief so she could enjoy her day comfortably.
“Let’s pull together to give a little back to this amazing charity.”
The adrenaline-fuelled Wing-Walking challenge, takes place 20th June next year, at the Breighton Airfield near Selby, Yorkshire. Being airborne at speeds of up to 135mph, will be an amazing experience for both.
Talking about the aerial display fundraiser, hairdresser Tracey said:
“We’re both feeling a mixture of excitement and nervousness about the challenge, it’ll probably be more nerves come the day!”
