Supporters of St. David's Hospice are lining up to be top of the world by taking part in a unique mountain challenge next month.

On Sunday May 12th fundraisers will take on the Snowdon Sunrise Challenge. Starting in the early hours at 1:45am walkers will climb Wales’ highest mountain with the aim of reaching the summit for the sunrise at 5:00 am.

Once finished supporters will descend down the mountain and will be rewarded with a full cooked breakfast at the Padarn Hotel in Llanberis.

Last year eleven members of staff from the Betsi Cadwaladr (central) Pharmacy Team put on their walking boots for the first ever Snowdon Sunrise raising £2,210.

Emma Williams, Training and Development Officer at Betsi Cadwaladr Pharmacy said: “I decided to do the Snowdon Sunrise Challenge originally with a friend from work as a personal challenge and then decided it would be a great opportunity for team building so involved other members of the pharmacy".

“The walk was absolutely fabulous and all of the staff involved really enjoyed it. I personally had wonderful support from my colleagues during the walk; it was a fabulous team effort".

“The Hospice is local to our department as we all work in Glan Clwyd and we are all inspired to help in the future after our visit seeing the wonderful work that is carried out.”

To boost their fundraising the team also put on cake days and raffles.

James Wilde, Conwy Area Fundraiser said: “Our first Snowdon Sunrise Challenge last year was a phenomenal success with more than 75 people summiting Snowdon for a stunning sunrise".

“The feedback we’ve had from supporters has been brilliant and this is your chance not only to raise both funds and awareness for St David’s Hospice but to experience an event that create lasting memories.”
