The Bay of Colwyn Town Council has stepped in to save some public toilets from possible closure by the Local Authority during the winter months.

Following last night's meeting, the council agreed to fund three Colwyn Bay toilets in Combermere Gardens, on the Central Prom and in The Dingle.

However, a spokesperson said that this was dependent on Conwy County Borough Council accepting the Town Council's offer of funding.

Conwy County Council recently announced that they would close some of the county's public toilets on a permanent basis and others during the winter months as a result of budgetary pressures.

Despite the resolve from the authority, a final decision remains pending following a row over consulatation and public need assesments.
