A return to Welsh league football for the Seagulls?

Following a public meeting earlier in the week, Colwyn Bay FC is considering a major change which will effect the way the club plays football in the region.

Financial pressures and a desire to move the club forward to even greater success on the field has meant that club Directors are exploring the possibility of leaving leaving the Northern Premier League Division One West and returning to the Welsh leagues.

Club Chairman William Murray said the current English pyramid structure is 'financially unsustainable' and they would be discussing proposals to join the Welsh pyramid with the Football Association of Wales as soon as they were able.

There has been much controversy over the years at Llanellian Road.

A directive from the Welsh Football Association in the early 90s stopped play in Colwyn Bay and saw the club 'relocate' over the border in Ellesmere Port. They were allowed to return and play in the town a number of years later but as an 'English' non-league side.
