Arrangements for the collection of waste and recycling in the Colwyn Bay and Conwy areas have just been released by Conwy Borough Council.

Some collection days will change over Christmas and New Year. Please check your collection day for full details.

Garden Waste, Electricals and Textile Collections

There will be no garden waste, electricals or textiles collections between Saturday 20 December and Friday 3 January. Collection days will return to normal the week beginning 6 January 2020.

Recycling Centres Christmas opening times

The Household Recycling Centres at Mochdre and Abergele close for 3 days over the Christmas period, and are open for longer between Christmas and New Year.

Christmas Recycling

Make the most of recycling over the Christmas break, to keep space in your bin!

Wrapping paper – if it doesn’t have glitter or foil, it can usually be recycled in your top box. Take off any sticky tape, ribbons and bows first. Use the wrapping paper “scrunch test” - if you scrunch the paper in your hand and it stays in a ball, it can be put into the recycling.

Christmas cards - Tear off ribbons or sections of glitter and then put the cards in with the paper recycling. Batteries from musical cards can go in your battery bag.

Christmas tree lights and electronic toys can be recycled in your pink bag.

Wreaths – natural materials such as ivy, fir cones, mistletoe and holly can be composted or put in your garden waste bags, as long as they are not covered with glitter.

Packaging – remove all plastic or polystyrene packing from inside boxes before you recycle them. Flatten cardboard boxes to save room in your trolibocs. Cardboard packaging goes in the top box if it’s grey or white card, and in the bottom box for brown cardboard. If you’re not sure what colour it is, rip the cardboard and see what colour it is inside.

Real Christmas trees - You can leave your real Christmas trees out for collection on your garden waste day between Monday 6 January and Friday 17 January.
