Deadline for Bay creative and digital bursaries approaching

Creative, digital and media businesses in the Bay of Colwyn may be eligable to receive support for professional development and training with the launch of a new bursary scheme.

As part of the Imagine Colwyn Bay project which aims to promote heritage, creativity and the arts in the area, the Creative and Digital Colwyn Bursary will be aiming to develop skills of people and local business.

The initiative in conjunction with Conwy Business Support, will offer opportunities for accessing funding, networking and development through an exciting and innovative programme of training, mentoring and series of events.

The vision is to create a culture of connection, learning, creativity and innovation which will raise aspirations locally and provide economic benefits to the area.

It will offer financial support for professional development and training opportunities that are specific to the creative and digital industries in the project area of Colwyn Bay, Old Colwyn, Mochdre, Rhos on Sea.

The creative industries are the fastest growing part of the UK economy and according to the Department for Digital, Media, Culture and Sport, its value to economy was over £101 billion, and has grown at nearly twice the rate of the economy since 2010, 

To apply you must run a business or work in the sector and operate as one of the following: Sole trader, Company Limited by shares, Company limited by guarantee, Partnership (LLP), Charity, CIC, Cooperative. Businesses will be required to have been operational for at least 3 months.

In addition, you should have a residential address in the project area and or operate business activities in the project area. Have been running your business for more than 3 months.

The awards will range from £350 to a maximum of £1200 with approximately 30 bursaries available.

The deadline for applications is rapidly approaching and applications close on Thursday February 13th.

Imagine is supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund, Conwy County Borough Council, Bay of Colwyn Town Council and Colwyn BID.
