Local pupils will be celebrating the National Day of Wales, a few days early as the town looks forward to marking St. David's Day.

On Friday, children including those from Ysgol Nant-y-Groes and St. Joseph's in the town centre will be joining up with other local schools to take part in the annual St. David's Day Parade.

The event which will see over 350 young people, some dressed in traditional Welsh costume and others proudly flying Welsh flags, will start off from Queens Gardens at 10am and finish at St. Paul's Church.

This year the event has been supported by the Imagine Colwyn Bay project who commissioned an artist to help children design banners, posters and art for the event.

Many local dignatries are looking forward to taking part with the children including Mayors from local Town and Community Councils, David Jones MP and Darren Millar AM.

Many local businesses have also been dressing their windows appropriately - adding a splash of colour and vibrancy to the route.

Mark Clemson from the Colwyn Bay Chamber of Trade said how much members were honoured to be supporting the parade and wished all the children and participants an enjoyable day.
