Earlier in spring North Wales Police launched the Big Easy campaign to show people how easy it is to avoid becoming a victim of crime.

Since then the campaign has received a great deal of attention and by now most people will have seen the posters and social media posts.

However North Wales Police are still receiving a number of reports where properties and vehicles have been left insecure and often with valuables on display.

Sergeant Beth Jones of Central Community Safety said: “We have had a great response to the Big Easy so far, but we need to promote our message further as we are still seeing crimes reported that could have been avoided.”

Earlier today Sgt Jones called into Bayside Radio to discuss the impact that crimes of this nature can have on individuals and how easy it is to avoid been a victim. She also discussed the alarming rate that scams are increasing and some of the ways to be on your guard.

David Evans Project Manager for PACT said “We are delighted to be a part of the Big Easy campaign that promotes the prevention of crime. Neighbourhood Policing Teams and partners are actively promoting the Big Easy message in communities across North Wales and it is good to see this crime prevention initiative gathering momentum.

"North Wales Police and Community Trust (PACT) is the community safety charity supporting projects which encourage a safer North Wales".

“PACT continues to champion neighbourhood projects that support policing and community safety priorities and strive to deliver positive outcomes for all concerned.”

Garry Murray Regional Manager for Crimestoppers said: “The independent charity are pleased to support and be involved with the Big Easy Campaign. The public have a key role in preventing and reporting crime by both ensuring that their homes, sheds and bikes are always secure and in reporting suspicious activity in their area.

“Crimestoppers receives over 1600 reports anonymously from North Wales each year and I would encourage the public to speak up and keep their community safe on 0800 555111 or through www.crimestoppers-uk.org. 100% Anonymous.”

The importance of keeping crime at bay is such an important one that Bayside Radio has made the interview available as a two part podcast to keep communities free from the crimes which blight neighbourhoods every summer and during the lighter nights.
