Last eight places at stake as the Bay takes on Flint

A place in the quarter-finals of the JD Welsh Cup is at stake when the Seagulls travel to Flint Town United on Friday (January 24) for a fourth round tie between two sides currently in the top three of the JD Cymru North.

Second-placed Flint are unbeaten in the four games since losing at home to Colwyn Bay in the league in December and are although they have fallen 12 points adrift of runaway leaders Prestatyn Town, they are eight points ahead of third-placed Bay with far superior goal difference.

Bay manager Craig Hogg recognises the challenge his side face.

"It will be a tough game; no mistake about that at all," he said.

"They are a good side who are above us in the table for a reason, in that they have won more games than we have.

"But we played well to win there in the league last month have that in our locker, but it will be the best team on the night who gets the result."

The Bay do have Sion Edwards available from suspension for this game, along with the recent new signings, and Hogg knows he has a big team selection decision  to make - especially with Toby Jones and Julian Williams coming off the bench in the second half last Saturday to help change the game against Ruthin.

"I've got some big decisions to make, but its a lovely problem to have," Hogg added.

It is the first time Bay have played Flint in a Welsh Cup game since the 1960-61 season,  when Flint won 1-0.

The Seagulls are expecting a big following to make the journey along the coast to cheer them on, with a supporters coach fully booked.
