The Seagulls bowed out of the JD Welsh Cup with a 3-2 defeat at Flint Town United after twice being in front in the first half.

Flint twice hit back to  equalise before half-time and then hit the winner just before the hour mark.

Colwyn Bay got a great start and were a goal up inside a minute through Julian Williams, after Flint had failed to clear Mitch Bryant's cross.

Richie Foulkes headed Flint level from a corner on nine minutes, but the Bay were back in front seven minutes later when Mitch Bryant scored from a tight angle after a miskick by the home keeper.

Bay cleared a Callum Bratley header off the line and Flint's Mark Cadwallader shot narrowly over the bar before the home side equalised a minute before half-time with a superb volley from Alex Titchiner.

Bay keeper Andy Coughlin made a good save from a deflected Richie Foulkes shot, but Flint went in front on 59 minutes when Mark Cadwallader finished off a good team move.

The Seagulls fought hard to try and get back on terms.

Cai Owen went  close, while Mitch Bryant beat the offside trap only to be denied the keeper and late on shot wide from Will Bell's long ball as Flint held on for the win and a place in the quarter-finals.

Manager Craig Hogg later tweeted: "300 plus fans on a Friday night away in the cup reminds me how lucky I am to work here. Wasn't meant to be, but so proud of everyone connected to the Bay.

"The lads gave everything, the fans got behind us right to the end. Speclal Club. Good luck to all at Flint Town United in the next round."
