North Wales Police have said a massive thank you to all their Volunteer Police Officers who have responded to assist and help bolster policing efforts during the coronavirus pandemic.
Over the Easter weekend Special Constables contributed a combined total of almost 2,000 hours to frontline policing across the region.
They have been a visible presence in our communities, providing additional reassurance whilst also proactively Engaging, Educating and Encouraging communities in relation to Covid 19 legislation and guidance.
This has included making and assisting with arrests, being on foot and mobile patrol in our communities, assisting with stop-checks of vehicles, stop searches, undertaking roadside drug and breath tests and seized vehicles.
Chief Officer for the North Wales Police Special Constabulary, Mark Owen said: “As ever I am humbled by the response of our Special Constables – they are putting themselves forward to help protect and support the community and North Wales Police during this emergency.
“They could have easily opted to stay home safe with their families over the Easter bank holiday weekend, but instead, they have been out on foot and in vehicles across the region – providing reassurance and taking some of the stress from their paid colleagues. This really is volunteering at its very best.”
North Wales Police Chief Constable Carl Foulkes echoed those views. He said: “Our Special Constables are just that – special, and are a key part of our response to the Coronavirus pandemic
“Their work ethic, productivity, commitment and dedication are outstanding and I am extremely proud of them all.”
